The J.P. Stevens Homecoming was a night to remember–one which fostered a lively environment and brought the student body together. Hosted by the J.P.S Student Council in the Old Gym on October 3, 2025, the event took place from 6:30 pm. to 9:00 pm and was filled with lots of music, dancing, and photography.
In order to accommodate the attendance of 147 students, the J.P. Student Council worked extremely hard to set up the event. They tied balloons to arches, hung up decorations, and lined up snacks and water in the Cafe Annex for students to refresh themselves with after tiring moments of dancing in the Old Gym. The Student Council sold tickets for $10 during lunch periods as well as at the door for Homecoming.
On top of that, students created handmade posters to ask out their significant other or friends, preserving a long-lasting tradition. As stunning pictures captured these couples, their night became one they would never forget, forming lifelong memories.
This year’s Homecoming theme was The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, explores themes such as the American Dream, as its main characters’ rise from rags to riches provides a nuanced depiction of how the American Dream can become corrupt when motivated by greed and obsession. With that being said, this year’s dance featured some students dressed in black and gold themes—the story’s mystery was emphasized through black, and its glamour and luxury were emphasized through gold.
Ranya Chaudhary ‘28, a Student Council Executive Board member, felt that this year’s Homecoming was a success, as she reflected, “This homecoming event was extremely delightful and captured the essence of The Great Gatsby perfectly! The entire vibe of the event was very well put together, and the music tied it all together. Can’t wait for next year.”
The music at the J.P. Stevens Homecoming event was managed by the DJ Club. They played an assortment of songs, ranging from Indian songs like “O Saki Saki” by Neha Kakkar to popular hip-hop songs such as Travis Scott’s “FE!N” and “Mo Bamba” by Sheck Wes. These upbeat songs created an electrifying mood filled with excitement, anticipation, and lots of energy.
Following the night of Homecoming, Krish Dhawalker ‘27 commented, “Homecoming was very nicely decorated, and I got a couple of good pictures that night. The dance circle was very fun, and the DJ club did a fantastic job with their song selections. It was a great environment to party with your friends.”
This year’s Homecoming was a large success, with students enjoying a night full of relentless dancing, music, photography, and complementary snacks. Student Council President Anuja Sharma states, “Having homecoming on the same day as the prep rally was definitely a huge task for Student Council to take on. The chaotic afternoon was spent hanging up streaks and building balloon arches, but when it all came together, it was so worth it. My peers did a great job dressing up for the theme, and it was so fulfilling to see everyone in the gym having fun!” Overall, thanks to the efforts the students put into the production of Homecoming 2025, the night of October 3rd was truly a night to remember.
