This spring, the Hawks’ boys’ and girls’ track teams are rewriting the record book, one race and one practice at a time. The boys’ and girls’ track teams are doing everything in their power to ensure that this year becomes one for the ages with the arrival of their spring season. The Hawks aim to break new records, improve their times, and motivate one another to be better each day.
Both groups show this sense of commitment throughout their practices and matches this season. It is known that both effort and regularity are key ingredients for success, regardless of the chosen event. The Hawks know that every practice matters and that daily effort can lead to great results in competition.
Both boys’ and girls’ teams exhibit a sense of unity, even if it may look like an individual sport. The athletes always cheer for each other during practice sessions and matches. It is common to see teammates motivate themselves by overcoming tough training sessions, celebrating personal record-breaking times, and supporting runners.
The Hawks have delivered many strong performances throughout the season. Among the athletes who have shown great leadership and played an important role within the team is Vedant Patil, a freshman varsity runner. He has already broken the freshman records and shown that he can perform at a high-level competition despite being a freshman himself. When I asked him what it means to him to contribute to the team this early in your high school career, he responded with, “It means a lot, as being a part of such a successful team this early in my track career gives me experience for what’s to come. But it’s not just me contributing to the team; it’s everyone else who puts the work and effort into helping the team get faster.”
The Hawks have put on several great performances this season. One such player from the Hawks who has made a considerable impact is Vedant Patil, a freshman varsity runner. Patil has broken freshman records, such as the 800 and 1600 meters, and has shown his abilities to play at a high level despite being just a freshman. His achievements not only show his raw talent but also his hard work and discipline towards his craft.
The girls’ track team has also seen remarkable success this season, proving that they can compete at a high level across a variety of events. When I asked Havishaa Noupada, a 9th grader on the girls’ track team, how being part of the girls’ track team helped you grow as both an athlete and a teammate this season, she responded by saying,” Being a part of the girls track team this season has helped me grow by pushing me to become more disciplined as an athlete while also learning how to support and motivate my teammates.
The players of both the boys’ and girls’ track teams wish to achieve more throughout the season, as they want to end the season on a high note. With talented athletes and great team chemistry, both teams want to show that they are more than ready to make this a season to remember.
