On Tuesday, September 30, the Class of 2026 gathered early in the morning on the football field to watch the Sunrise together. Senior Sunrise is an annual high school tradition where seniors join together before dawn, have breakfast, and hang out with their friends to celebrate their final year. It is one of the most memorable and special ways to start the last year of high school for the students.
At 6:15 am, seniors were greeted and welcomed to the field by the faculty who were supervising the event. Students arrived with blankets, lawn chairs, coffee, and decorated poster boards to take pictures with their friends. Before rushing to the field to claim spots for themselves and their friends, seniors were provided with breakfast and warm beverages such as burritos, hot chocolate, and coffee.
Before the sun rose, the seniors started taking pictures with their friends and peers. Many students took this as an opportunity to show off their matching customized clothing, such as hoodies and sweats that had the number “26” or said “Seniors.” Throughout the morning, several decorated posters were also being exchanged between the students to use with their friends for pictures.
Senior Sanya Kochhar claimed, “It was so special to see everyone in our grade gather together! My friends and I even created cute posters to take pictures with. It was definitely a core memory.”
The morning was full of laughter, chatting, and good memories. Although the sky was cloudy and the Sunrise wasn’t fully visible, it was still special for students as they got the chance to spend time with their friends and make wholesome, new memories.
Senior Shreya Sathish said, “Senior Sunrise felt more like Senior Cloudrise, but it was still fun to wake up early, drive to Dunkin with my friends, and take cute pictures together with different posters we made. It was a memorable way to start our last year of high school!”
With the effort of the Class of 2026 officers and the support of the faculty, the graduating class was able to create lasting memories at their first and last Senior Sunrise. Not only did Senior Sunrise bring the entire Class of 2026 seniors together, but it also marked a sweet beginning to an unforgettable year full of memories. The seniors will join again by the end of the year for Senior Sunset: one final time to celebrate the end of their high school journey before they part ways.
