What makes a person successful? A question that is asked by many, yet answered by none. Success can be caused by economic status, social status, and a lot more. However, for an ambitious individual, the big question is still up in the air: what factor influences success the most?
Out of all the factors that could improve a person, knowledge is arguably the most influential factor. People with at least a bachelor’s degree make 86% more than people without one, as seen with studies by aplu.org. A common misconception is that most people who are successful were born rich. However, 20% of the people on the Forbes 400 were born dirt poor, and many more in the lower and middle class. And more than 84% of the Forbes 400 members had college degrees.
Education is spread out throughout the world. However, some education systems are much better. Countries like South Korea and Denmark consistently score higher on international comparisons than others. To understand why, we have to look at how babies develop. As babies grow up, they develop important problem-solving and language skills that must be actively practiced to reach their full potential. While run-of-the-mill educational systems emphasize memorization, stronger education systems focus on problem solving and coordination. If we look at Denmark, their education system has a singular final exam, and uses hands-on learning that is mandatory to participate in. This allows students to understand the material over a relatively short period, rather than memorize information and forget it the day after.
The quality of education a student receives is integral to their success as an adult. Rooted in a developed education system, success originates from an individual’s ability to concentrate their skills and abilities on one particular issue. Therefore, a stronger education system that emphasizes building such abilities for the long term would be a better choice for any student striving for success. The quality of education that a student receives plays a very important role in how their cognitive systems develop. This is because they learned to approach a problem head-on at an early age, allowing them to carry on into adulthood without any issues. To succeed in life, an individual must have had a strong development within a community that lets them tackle problems head-on, which would allow them to form the skills needed to achieve their goals.
