On Friday, May 16, the JP Stevens Class of 2025 gathered for a night to make new unforgettable memories: Prom. Prom had been the special night the seniors had been waiting months for. It was held at Addison Park, a beautifully decorated banquet hall. The night served as one of the most memorable events for seniors before their graduation, commemorating their high school journey.
Students started arriving around 6 PM in different cars and limos, dressed in their best formal attire with some wearing the classic tassel dresses and pinstripe suits to match the event’s theme: The Roaring Twenties. When they entered, they had opportunities to take various pictures with their friends and dates at many different scenic spots at the venue, including the water fountain and outdoor gazebo. There was even an indoor photo booth that printed pictures and professional photographers taking pictures throughout the night.
Junior Jeeval Paliwal said, “The photo booth was my favorite spot! I took a lot of pictures with my friends so I could look back at them later.”
Before the dancing began, dinner was served with a variety of food such as different types of pastas and chicken as well as drinks. After energizing themselves, students rushed to the dance floor as the DJ played a combination of old, nostalgic songs with popular hits such as Danza Kuduro, Hotel Room Service, and Fein. One of the most notable moments was the giant conga line, which united the seniors and got the crowd moving for a sense of shared fun.
Senior Varshitaa Karra claimed, “I loved how everyone ran to the dance floor and joined in. It was definitely one of the most fun moments of the night!”
As the night drew to a close, the DJ slowed down the music, and students filled the dance floors to enjoy dancing to one final song together. As a bittersweet moment, many took this opportunity to take more pictures with their friends and live in the moment. Friends hugged each other, realizing it was one of their final and most precious moments. Prom wasn’t just a fun celebration, but it was rather a memorable night for the seniors to leave with memories they’ll deeply cherish, marking a closing chapter of their high school experience.
As Señora Vacca put it, “It was a beautiful night! What I will remember about this prom is that there were lots of dancing, picture taking, smiles and beautiful memories being made. And that’s what prom should be!”
