Amber White, one of the most talented players on the Girls Varsity Basketball team, first stepped onto the court in 7th grade. Since then, the sport has been a defining part of her life. In fact, just last season, the team won the division title. The girl’s basketball team won 20 out of 26 games last season and were first in the league. Amber, herself, contributed to the success by scoring 27 points. She regarded winning the division title as her favorite memory sharing “as a team, we worked really hard to get there and winning the division title proved our hard work and commitment paid off.”
As the new season approaches, Amber is focused on continuing the team’s winning culture and fostering strong team chemistry. For her, basketball isn’t just about the game; it’s about the heartwarming bond that the team shares, both on and off the court. In fact, her favorite part about being on the team is “the family that it offers me..we are very close and it’s nice to have that type of support.”
When asked what she’ll miss most about being part of the team, Amber believes that it is their traditions like Competition Fridays and holiday practice. These moments of simply having fun spending time with her friends are memories that Amber will cherish as she continues her journey into college.
Beyond basketball, Amber is also deeply involved in the school community. She is the treasurer of the Black Student Union and a participant in Project Unified, showcasing her commitment to leadership and inclusion.
When she’s not shooting hoops, Amber enjoys watching Men in Black and the TV series The Good Place. Her go-to snack? A classic, french fries.
Amber is not only a talented basketball player, but she’s incredibly dedicated to her team and has worked to create a more positive environment within JP Stevens. Her endeavors leave behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future players. As a valued member of our community, we wish her luck for this year and beyond!
