On April 26, students attended the JP Stevens 2024 Family Feud event. The night was filled with entertainment and laughter as attendees took part in rounds of questioning. This event brought students together in a fun and interactive way by involving students in healthy, school-spirited competition. This event became the highlight of the school year, fostering camaraderie among participants. Family Feud offered a unique opportunity for students to bond over friendly competition and shared experiences.
To start off, there were four teams in total: freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Each round consisted of three questions. Each team had to send up one participant per question and the teammate that pressed the button first would get to answer.
The first round was freshmen vs. seniors, with the seniors being the victors. Round two was between the juniors and sophomores in which the juniors took the victory. After the first two rounds, an engaging halftime show took place where Mr. Andrez performed a dance for all the students watching. Following that, an amusing lip sync battle between Nathaniel and Mr. Baer occurred to the song “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction. To the students’ surprise, Mr. Baer proceeded to pour water on himself to further enhance the performance. Meanwhile, senior Nathaniel Williams simultaneously performed a choreographed dance while singing. Mr. Baer also gave out chocolate brownies to the participants during the rounds. This half-time performance encouraged and excited students for the next round.
The final round between the seniors and juniors was extremely intense. Questions were asked back and forth until the seniors finally won.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a junior in the finals as I was placed against seniors that have all committed to prestigious universities. I was definitely challenged!” said junior Saanvi Budigam when she was asked to look back on the final round of Family Feud.
Although the score was tight, the senior team took the win over the juniors.
When asked about his experience competing, senior Ronit Chakraborty said, “Family Feud was something that I took part in to make some more amazing memories with my friends before we’re off to college, and that’s exactly what we were able to accomplish.” “From Mr. Baer’s brownies to the event itself, I loved being a part of this show. An added bonus was that our senior team took home the victory at the end of the night and went out for Taco Bell to celebrate (it’s the dinner of champions).”
Overall, the Family Feud event was a success, as it was more than just an entertaining experience. It was an opportunity for various grades to bond together in healthy competition and create lasting memories in school spirit.
