On February 22, the Spanish Honors Society held a fiesta in order to raise money for their organization. These events serve as a great way to kill two birds with one stone as the members get to bond with each other and the club can raise funds as well.
The event was initially set to be a movie night with snacks and drinks for members to enjoy while watching; however, due to connectivity issues with the screens in the cafeteria, the gathering was then rebranded as a “fiesta”.
After a slight change of plans, members of the club started entering the cafeteria as 4:00 PM rolled around. In the cafeteria, tables were set up for the students to sit with their peers and additional tables were present to hold the food that was being served. There were a variety of options to choose from including pizza, chips, drinks such as water and sodas, munchkins, and cookies.
As the students began settling in, the liveliness of the fiesta kicked in and everyone was enjoying themselves, helping themselves to snacks or talking with other members. The fiesta wouldn’t be a fiesta without music which was being managed by the co-president of the JPS Digital Music Club, senior Krishan Trikha.
Halfway through the event, the organizers began a Quizizz game to have a friendly, fun competition between the members of SHH. The winner of the Quizizz game was awarded a box of pizza that they could take home with them.
The event was a great turnout for the club as over 100 members of SHH attended the fiesta. Everyone who attended the event was able to relax and enjoy their time with their friends after a long week of school.
“Despite the setbacks we faced, the event turned out to be a huge success for SHH,” said President senior Shivam Dave. “The board hopes to see the SHH community again at our Charity Dinner in March.”
Overall, the fiesta did an admirable job of banding the Spanish Honors Society community together and will set a precedent for future events to come.
