Mrs. Catalfamo
June 5, 2023
Mrs. Catalfamo has been working at JP Stevens for the past 26 years and retired in January 2023. At JP, she served as a secretary in the Counseling Office as well as the secretary for the Scholarship Committee for Senior Awards. Mrs. Catalfamo has been part of the Edison community for many years as she also graduated from Edison High School before joining JP.
Mrs. Catalfamo loved everything about her job as a secretary. She especially enjoyed interacting with the students throughout her career and working with the entire staff as she has made many friends and a work family at JP. Although she did not participate in any extracurricular activities, Mrs. Catalfamo was always an avid supporter of the activities at JP, attending a variety of the Theater Company’s spring productions, and even serving as a judge for Mr. JPS.
Throughout her time at JP, Mrs. Catalfamo has learned to not worry too much and to appreciate all the small moments in life, such as going out in public. After working in a school setting during events such as 9/11 or the recent COVID-19 pandemic, she has learned to be more aware of what others may be going through, mentally and emotionally. Ms. Catalfamo reflects on her experiences as a teacher and offers some valuable advice to other students and staff members at JP.
“Time goes too quickly so enjoy every moment even if you think it’s insignificant,” said Mrs. Catalfamo. “Don’t have any regrets!”
During her retirement, Mrs. Catalfamo has been spending more time with her grandchildren and hopes to pursue her love for reading by the pool. She plans on vacationing at the Jersey Shore over the summer and spending more time outdoors. Overall, Mrs. Catalfamo is looking forward to the freedom of waking up in the morning without her morning alarm and simply enjoying her time at home without a set routine.
Mrs. Catalfamo has been a vital part of JP’s faculty and will be remembered for the impact she has made on her students and the JP community as a whole.
